As soon as we caught sight of Agder the same picturesque old town Halfdan left as an infant smiled at us from a distance. Our sudden visit apparently surprised the town's leadership, still Halfdans mother Asa greeted us cordially and arranged a banquet for the evening at once.

\n
It was agreed upon that of course Agder was happy to aid the town's most famous descendant of the Ynglings in to achieve kinghood. Still, our alliance was too weak at the moment to persuade others in the country to do the same. Asa suggested to announce our intentions in Sogn next. This chiefdom was located in the freezing northwest, across the big mountains. Crossing the range this time of year was deemed to dangerous, so scouts from Agder let us in on the secret of an old mountain pass that presented us with the only opportunity to safely cross during this season. Finding the entrance was the only challenge. Concerning the other chiefdoms, Olaf's relatives in Raumarike could likely be softened up to the idea of a king from Vestfold. And if we mobilized all of our strength along with our allies, perhaps we could even emerge victorious from a skirmish with powerful Vingulmark.
\n
\n
And so we celebrated deep into the night, toasting on our friendship. Many men from Agder would probably have followed us right there and then, but most of them remained at home after considering their homely commitments again the next day. If we ever wanted to rely on their assistance in battle we ought to provide them with the necessary beverages to give themselves some proper viking courage.
