Soon after the message of our arrival spread throughout Sogn we were welcomed by their fittingly named chief Harald Goldbeard. He was an old and frail man, so old in fact that one did wonder how many years he would have left in Midgard. After tough negotiations he accepted our claim to kinghood, no doubt recognizing that powerful allies made better trading partners than petty divided chiefdoms. Our visit was a success!

Nonetheless we were warned that any extraction of the cities gold treasures without fair compensation was strictly forbidden. This included mining the gold still bound in rocks. Should we cross this line our newly found friendship would quickly dissolve into conflict! Just as we wanted to leave town a local mason approached us in secret. He was tired of toiling in the mines for the benefit of the town's upper class. Only goldsmiths were allowed to take a share of the profits, but everybody else was out of luck. He told us about a huge lode located somewhat south of here that was still unknown to the miners in town. Exploring it would have to be done in absolute secrecy! It was this kind of information that we desperately needed! Now we could start production of our own gold to pay for the planned expansion of our armed men.
